Why Does My Friend Lose Way More Loot Than Me

I am just wondering if anyone has some insight into why my friend loses way more loot than me. I rarely get attacked and when I almost never lose a lot of loot, my friend gets raided basically every time he is offline without a shield and he loses a lot of loot every time. We are both mid th8, I am a few levels higher mainly because of donations, I tend to stay in gold 1 and my friend tends to stay in gold 3. Does it have something to do with base design, trophy league or is it just a total fluke. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The picture says it all. He has a lot of loot to attract attacker/farmer to attack his base

Your base design is far superior to that of your friend's

Tell your friend to scatter out resources more, like in your base.
Right now, any enemy that gets in the core can take all the loot.

Also, both of you need to put your town hall out
Obviously, neither you nor your friend is trophy pushing.

    Tell your friend spread storages.

Your friend has full gold storages, and you don't carry any gold.

He has 5 storages(2 gold, 2 elixir, and dark elixir) in the same compartment. It's game over, after they break in. TH9s see a buffet, when they see his base.

    1. Your friend has more loot and is a tastier target
    2. Your friend's stores are mostly in one centralised compartment, crack that open and you get the lot. Whereas with yours, you have to work harder to get into each store.

Your layout is much better with spread stores across the base. If your goal is to save resources, the cheapest way to protect your loot is to get a shield for as little cost as possible - put your TH outside and hope you get sniped. In gold I many TH7s are trying to push to crystal for gems, so you should get sniped pretty frequently. Sniping = no (or little) loot lost, no traps to rearm, no disarming your defences and cc troops if you do successfully defend.

OK thanks everyone. My TH is inside my base because I was pushing to crystal over the last few days, currently working on a base with th on the outside

A few have said it but the key is that all of his storages are in one spot. I typically barch and would avoid players with all of their loot in storage but I could centralize my attack on one front instead of circling and get I to his center as long as my heros were up.
