One cannot simply chose what ios version they have. Apple only allows you to update your device to the most current update your device can have. If you have say... ios 6 on an ipod 5g, updating it now will only allow you to have ios 8.3. You cannot go backwards and put ios7 on a device with ios8. It is impossible without doing an extremely difficult process that requires a certain file you can only obtain shortly after your device updates, and even then you can only go back one incremental version.

Android is a different story but I am unfamiliar with how its software updates.

I wonder how long before iOS 5 isn't supported? I'm surprised it hasn't happened already, but that is the end of my Clash of Clan days once I have to buy a new device just to keep playing.

The vid says after April 2015. You should upgrade your device regardless, your device won't be recieving security updates that protect your personal information etc

yes, supercell games can still run on iPad 1 running iOS 5.1.1 after the minimum requirements upgrade
