I've seen some custom war bases people made themselves. Definitely better off copying one lol. Unless you know what you're doing, copy a layout and tweak it a bit. Most people aren't capable of creating a good base from scratch.

I'm glad you posted this. Reason being, I take offense when my base gives up 2*
I immediately start looking for a new base I like, and then I put some of my own spins on it. I am ranked #1 and am maxed on defenses, and walls are lego/lava/zaps. I have the mindset that I "can't afford" to give up anything more than 1* - yet I 2* plenty of other th10's we face in wars. I know with the stronger attacks out there, and all the tutorials, it was only a matter of time someone had my number, so thanks for the reminder that the possibility is always there to give up 2*. Hell, I've even watched maxed th10's get 3'd on the tube.......so I know it's there, I just have to get past my mental block of it, so thanks for the reminder that it's always possible......
It seems the best defense for a th10 is a centralized cc, offset th.
I recently gave up 2 for the first time in probably 7 months

While I agree on the overall premise of your post, I believe it is beneficial to the community to see bases others have created.
While the general and it's versions were widely copied and hulk showed it's weaknesses to the masses, others pm'ed me how their variations of the base and tweaks they had made over time had made it a good base for them.
A good war base is one that is modified and tweaked over time to make it the best possible base for you and the situation you are in your current clan. Some people are in clans where all TH9s get 3 starred and some are in clans where all TH9s are only 2 starred and some get 3 starred.
Base building has definitely evolved since I was TH9 and there are plenty of good threads on base design and how to go about it so people should have plenty of help in designing a suitable base.

Clan: Oklahoma 4 Wars #88L00JCC - Accepting Th9's & Up apply in-game
Amen to that. However, in fairness, I've only started making my own war bases and it IS difficult, especially since you can only tweak it once every 2 days AT MAX, which means it takes longer to adapt than farming bases. So I can sorta see why people use the forums and YT for their war bases too![]()
02/01/15: TH9 | Level 109 | GG: 910m | HH: 2.5m | BK: 16->17 AQ: 21->22 | 142/250 lava
Yes, you are correct.
The entire premise of a good TH10 war base is you want it to be anti 3. You prioritize a centralized CC and infernos over your TH. Your TH is almost always going to get taken out no matter where it is located so it really doesn't matter as to whether or not it's centralized which is why offset is typically the way to go.
A good TH10 is going to 2 star you every time. No if's and's or but's about it. If they are only getting 1 star, it isn't because your base design is good, it's because your attackers are doing something incredibly wrong.
