The reason why you don't copy war bases!

    G'day there, this is Hades.

So as the title says, I will explain the reasons why you don't copy war bases. I've made this thread because too many people use unoriginal designs & constantly get 3 starred, then ask for another base..

So anyways.. Using someone else's war base, or one from the forums is a complete 3 star giveaway. Reason being, lots of people are starting to make YouTube channels or websites dedicated to clan wars. They post or make videos of people 3 starring popular forum bases like The General, Baconmaker, Alpha Sectors, The Turtle and tons more. This means people just go to youtube and watch your base get 3 starred, then on war day, they just follow the steps. Simple as that.. Everyone knows where the traps are, unless you were smart enough to customise the base, but it will still make you very easy to 3 star.

I definitely recomend watching some videos from OneHive youtube about base design. It helped me and it sure should help you. Jake explains all the things you need to know about bases and you are gauranteed to hold back some 3 stars

Yep. I've been trying to get better at making my own bases for this very reason. Also, I think that making you own bases helps you understand the strengths and weaknesses of other bases you might see, make you a somewhat better attacker.

I see your main point even though it's being a bit exaggerated and over simplified.

There is a big difference in the skill lvl of these attackers vs. the average clasher, and just because you watch a video or see how it's 3 starred in reality doesn't mean you are going to be able to do the same consistently.

Jake, One hive, RT, etc aren't your typical every day casual attackers/war clans.

It still boils down to you, your timing, and your execution (as well as a bit of luck in terms of troop/ royal A.I. as well).

People on the forums here also represent a very small minority of the CoC worldwide playerbase. Just because there is a topic/guide on here of how to 3 star "X common base" doesn't mean that it will always be 3 starred, or that "everyone" will know exactly how to hit it... and in the event they do they still have to execute their attack properly.

Yes, it's better to have your own unique base.

Yes, it's better not to copy well known bases (or in the event you do, at least put your own spin on it).

Regardless, with current state of CW and the amount of modding that currently plagues the community your base design probably doesn't even matter whether it's unique or copied.

All Th9's will inevitably be 3 starred by good war clans and all 10's at minimum 2'd.

    Anyway, carry on.

You can make bases that are extremely hard to 3 star and even if the 3 star is obtained it is because the attacker had a bit of luck and very high heroes.

It's just about copying the right base.

The same is probably equally applicable for not posting your own war base online. This gives people time to study on how to destroy it and some will copy it and that will lead to other 3 starring it and posting videos of 3 star attacks vs that base.

I used a base I copied in one of our wars - we attacked it 6 times and got 1 star at best. I later saw this base several times in farming, so the design is popular.
In any case it is holding grate in wars - in 10 wars it was only once 2 stared by LavaLoonion (TH was destroyed by splash from loons).

If a base is popular, it is probably because it is working. And even if you know where the traps are, it does not make the biggest of difference on well designed bases.

I think in clash you should just figure out what elements that are working and why they are working and build and tweak on that.

True that, even worse mistake is to have the same bases in the same clan.

Although same bases are so good, that cant be 3* even if they know where the traps are.

    Overall good thread
