Change your mindset. Think of wars as a place to build a high-functioning team, have some competition, and awesome clan perks. If your clan wins wars then plan on breaking even with elixir and de and you won't feel so bad. At least you are making a lot of gold and having fun doing it.

I'm TH10 and war cost me 575k Elixir for both attacks (troops + Spells) so I really don't understand how one can spend 1 Million.

dont war constant unless you have time to farm during prep and between attacks. Personally, I dunno how folks do it either. I just dont have time to be farming 4-8 hours a day plus do war. I got kids and a hubby to tend to. lol

Farm, farm and farm... train your war armies when you're busy i.e asleep or in work/school then attack around that.
If your not heavily dependent on heroes and spells for raiding you can pretty much get raiding again 20 minutes after your war hit.
Personally I spend 200k donating level 6 wizards to everyone. Then I spend 500k per attack x2 attacks. I don't mess around.
Farm harder... I fill my entire clans war ccs every war roughly 600+ troops, every other day + donate the majority of what people ask for attacks+ 2 attacks of roughly 400k armies...and still farm enough to spend about 5 mil elixer on walls in between research upgrades... War is for the rich but all that definitely makes losing sting..

It’s easy to imagine. If you are in a mixed level.clan, high level and active when mid to low level are active you carry the burden of donations. Dragon are not the only high cost troop. 5x maxxed wiz or 4 x maxxed loons cost close(-ish) a dragon for the same housing. If you factor in lost multiplayer opportunities the amount is higher still. We encourage everyone to max cc. So that increases donations costs too.
A th7 spamming dragons and spells costs far more than 575k for two attacks and for many its the only viable option until they acquire and upgrade hogs.
To the OP, don’t treat wars as a viable ways to get resources. Past mid th8 it can pay off if you attack #1 or #2 and win the war but below that CW are always an elixir or de sinkhole.
Win them. Oh, and farm.
