Is Taking out King Necessary when TH8 Hogging?

I know to pull the CC and trigger any giant bombs I can get to with one or two hogs, but I often leave the king alive.

If he's in the core it would probably take too much investment to get to him, but what if he is toward the edge of the base? What troop investment is worth killing him before sending in the hogs? Is it worth bringing 5 or 6 less hogs?

Normally a king is not much of a issue while hogging if your hogs are in heals most of the time. However if he is exposed drop two giants followed by a few archers and wizards. However I believe that troop space can be better occupied by more hogs or cleanup troops.

Remember however that the queen needs to be taken out else she will take out many hogs before they target her.
Th9....... There I don't have to change it for a long time

i agree with the above. don't worry about the king as a TH8 unless he's very easy to lure and kill. once you get to TH9, the queen must be dealt with though.

Understood. That was exactly my thinking. Thanks for the input!

I think I will leave the king unless truly exposed. Even if he is only behind one wall, I will leave him until the end (or maybe do a one-for-one trade with my king).

I use hogs, healers plus wiz as cleanup. 26 hogs, 2 healers, rest wiz. 3 heal as th8 plus 5 in cc. I am currently 215 spaces as th9 and the ratio is similar.

I never worry about BK or AQ unless they get in the way of cleanup.

Hogs can outrun cc dragons and as long as the dragon chases the hogs not healers, its a guaranteed three star on th 8 once wiz do their thing. Pretty funny to watch really. One of those things discovered accidently in multiplayer that works in CW.

No but start on his side so when the last defense is down and the hogs start on those skeletons that have been chasing them around they fight away from king.
My advice is upgrade all troops if you love war..

Not at all... King is a non issue. If you execute properly, you'll have 15+ hogs remaining at the end to easily kill him.
