Ergo if you went from 9 to 10 a bit early you can still pick on the 9s at only a 10% penalty. However if you were a premie 9 and now you're a premie 10 then, well, you should have learned your lesson at 9. Still, you can loot the 8s, it'll just take you twice as long to get the loot you need.
You can make ends meet by farming and/or buying 1-week shields. Level all collectors to 11 and you make over 3 million a week.
I see no problem with restricting things for the players own benafit but If not. Then a warning flag at least, if they try to upgrade to early, using a system based on trophy levels or upgrades the player has completed.
you can overrule it but you get a warning on why its a bad idea.
As for a new system for the game to re structure it to accommodate early upgraders you talked about?
i don't see how
to offer players of the same TH level different loot levels within the loot penalty system would require a new system for loot and battle selection. And if it was fixed everyone would just upgrade as you get more stuff and no penalties for doing so.
The only possible way I can see is a roll back of the town hall but this sounds very hard to achieve unless supercell can save a players base fix it in a point in time for say 1 month at the point just before the townhall upgraded, and the players game rolls back to that point after a month the player can no longer roll back the townhall. But that is a lot of if's and who knows how much server space would be needed to do it. And if it is even possible because of the trophy system effects.
to them that have upgraded to early your choices are, gems or a slowly upgrade path until you get nearer your correct level.
The leagues changes I talked about would help as it would move more players into higher trophy ranges leaving you with the other early upgraders. To fight it out. But it never going to be easy for you.
The game doesn't need to have that level of hand holding. A warning makes sense and it should displayed whenever someone goes to upgrade the town hall. If a person chooses to proceed anyway, they should be able to, but at least they are then making an informed decision.
A complete loot overhaul is necessary because as is, the game is really screwed up. You are basically punished for attempting to gain trophies. This is rather counter intuitive. The league bonuses are a step in the right direction to fixing it, but as of now they are quite lack luster. I thought for sure they would enhance the system with the last update...I was wrong.
The loot penalty is a cheap fix that also is counter intuitive. You are now punished for advancing your base.
This means the game punishes you for doing the only two things that could possibly be considered progression. I think that is pretty stupid and clearly indicative that the reward (loot) system in the game is very very broken.

If if you say yes because you can hit TH 1-5 who would play this game when you get raided by small army's of level 6 troops and get wiped out all the time. At the very beginning of the game.
So we need a trophy system that cannot be ♥♥♥♥♥ed.

What if supercell gave all player 2 new numbers based on upgrades of both offence and defence this is used for battle selection. The higher the league the bigger the loot, so skilled players that can fight above their weight get more loot from victories as they climb the leagues.
Now in the new system all the loot comes from supercell its based on upgrade level, and leagues so every match offers good loot if the player is at his correct league. For his upgrade level say 200-300k a time, if you are in a good league you get more you just have to win to get it so the leagues effect your loot not what the player has.
then trophies are just about your leagues you get a fix amount of trophies for each win and lose a fixed amount for a loss say 1-3 same for losing but only from defence loses. It based on stars.
So all battles should be offered a good battle selection every time no option to pass up a battle. each battle the player has the same statistical chance of winning the higher the league the harder the victory but way more loot say 600k of each at higher levels,with a good chance of a win for a player its down to skill to get victory.
if the player is not very skilled the matches are made easier as he drops down the leagues as he will be losing and not winning. The loot can stay good for him. But not as good as if he was in a better league or fighting above his weight.
so player A is TH 8 near max in gold 3 he gets 200k matches
player B is the same but in gold 2 he gets 220k matches gold 1 240k matches. But his chance of victory falls as he wins but his loot also keeps climbing all the way up to say 600k or more to allow for big army's and fewer wins he may only win 50% of the time and only fight 12 times in 12 hrs but his matches are for large amounts.
player C is TH 9 near max but in gold 3 he gets 50k matches if he climbs to the top of the league system he gets 500k or more for victories but matches are hard. But if he was a TH 9 that's rushed he may get the same or more at league gold 3 than player A. It down to his upgrade score telling the game if he is in the right league in the right league area but in a very high average with a low statistical chance of win he could get the same 600k battleship the harder he pushes for his upgrade level the more loot he can win.
shields would not be needed players could battle day and night the most active and skilled players would earn the most and get the highest rankings not just gemers.
So the whole game is now about winning not protecting loot.
the aim for every player is stopping any victory agianst them and winning as much as possible as it gives more loot.
supercell could change the win system to give buildings more or less value so some things have to be better protected by a player so natural high value items stores, TH things like that if lost give more % points away.

The trick would be to devise a trophy based reward system that would be more profitable than farming crappy bases. This would entice farmers to change their ways instead of forcing them to.

No match making should remain solely based on trophies. Only trophies can account for otherwise unquantifiable values such as player skill. If gaining trophies were extremely profitable, everyone would be trying to do it. If everyone were trying to do it people would naturally fall into ranges based on their upgrades and skill level.
I'm imaging a scenario where league bonuses are much higher and have TH level and number of stars won in an attack as a factor.
They keep the loot penalty exactly as it is now. However they institute a bonus system that works like this:
Let's say under the new system a TH10 would get 300k each of gold/elixir and 500 DE bonus from getting a 3 star at 2000 trophies. We could have the following formula:
(TH Level)^2 * 3000 for gold/elixir and (TH Level)^2 * 5 for DE
A two star would yield 30% of this bonus.
A one star would yield 5% of this bonus. This makes TH sniping not very profitable and pretty similar to the current bonuses.
This bonus would be on top of any resources that were raided and resource raiding would work identically to now. Meaning 500k loots at TH10 for 3 starring another TH10 would not be uncommon.
So basically the idea is as the loot penalty grows for resource raiding, the loot ceiling also grows for trophy hunting. The exponential increase on TH Level ensures that upgrading your TH is beneficial.
Champion league could top out with a 1m gold/elixir bonus for TH10 and a 2K DE bonus.
This would create a progression from raiding storages at lower TH levels where trophies are harder to obtain to getting 3 stars and gaining trophies (and hopefully much larger loots to pay for those expensive buildings) at higher th levels where people have the armies and defenses to sustain higher trophy counts.
However, if people wanted to they could continue to play the way they do now as well because all of the loot caps, penalties, etc could remain the same. Meaning farmers could still farm, but many would likely not because trophy hunting would be immensely more rewarding.
The bonuses would be setup such that even if you are a premature TH, the bonuses being related to TH level will help get you the loot you need to progress. For example a 3 star at 1500 trophies could be worth 100k for a TH10, but of course the resource loots would be terrible. However at least premature THs wouldn't be totally rooked.
