Basically, today's 4x boost means you get 300% faster spell production, for 10 gems. I propose a 6x boost that costs 20 gems. It would boost production 500% for 20 gems, so you'd pay a few more gems per boost factor, so to speak.
For example, with no boost, you can make 4 lightning spells in 2 hours. With the 4x boost, you can make 16. That means that 10 gems bought you 12 extra lightning spells in those 2 hours.
With my proposed 6x boost, you would be able to make 24 lightning spells in 2 hours. So you would get 20 extra spells for a cost of 20 gems.
12 spells for 10 gems, or 20 spells for 20 gems. Seems fair. They're a little more expensive, but hey, you get to use a lot more spells!
One question I have, though, is whether a player would get both options, or just the new option. If they only get the new option, some players might not like it. Perhaps a way to have both options is to make it cost 10 gems either way, but give the player the option of a 2-hour 4x boost or a 1-hour 6x boost. Not sure if that would make the interface too complicate though...
As for an 8x boost (the OP's suggestion), that would have to cost at least 24 gems, and more likely 30 gems. You would be getting 28 extra spells in 2 hours. 28 extra spells for 24 gems is fair, considering 12 spells for 10 gems with the current boost.
