TH9 Going to Champ

Hey guys

I'm level 111 TH9 heading to champ for the first time, currently at 3033 and moving up steadily. I'm fully def maxed except xbows (they're level 2), walls I've got 26 or so lvl 7's left (unfortunately didn't fully max those at th8), rest are 8's and 9's, heroes are K 15 and Q 16.
Been using mainly HoBarch (16-20 hogs, then barbs and archers) plus 4 wizards and 8 wallbreakers, as well as a CC golem (unfortunately just lvl 1, I've been feeding them to myself from my Th8 account for convenience sake). Clear with healed/raged hogs, then funnel the wizards and queen in behind the golem with some wallbreakers to grab an extra 20-30% and often the second star as well. Found it quite effective so far, had good luck with it.
Also thrown in the occasional lavaloonian hit and a few gowiwi's, but mainly going with HoBarch since it's so much faster to train.

Not much luck on defenses up here, tried a number of layouts but past 2850 or so haven't won any defs at all. May be luck, not sure. Any general tips on layouts that work well, adjustments to army comp, hero usage, CC troop change, anything?

My previous record was 2846, about 6 weeks ago, never been up this high before so it's all pretty new, scoping it out as I go. Any tips helps, appreciate it!

Never been there, but good luck. It's good that you're going at a steady pace. Some of my Clanmates who have made it have said it gets really hard around 3100. Good luck.

Ah... that's somewhat worrying haha, I hope it doesn't get too much worse. Then again, though, th7's have made it past 4k so I'm confident I can do it with enough dedication. Me Vs Champ League: Fight to the death.

Best advice: leave your TH outside. Especially with your wall levels, you will not win defenses up there in the swarm of TH10s. However, said TH10s will gladly use their lvl 40 AQ only to snipe you and get 150k league bonus without having to retrain army. You will save loot and cups this way.I just did the push last week and every time I log I got sniped for -8 to -10. Much better than getting smashed for -20 or more

Last week I got to 3500 as a TH9 and it wasn't that difficult. I used Balloonion (20 balloons, 60 minions) to pick for 50%. The main thing is to be patient, especially when searching for bases. If you are not SURE you can win against the base, don't attack it. I won most of my attacks without using heroes and only using 2/3 spells (rage spells).

Yeah at 2600-2850 it was worth it, came back a few times to +50 from defs, but started farming now since it's just not worth the bigger losses. The handy thing about having a trophy base, I will say, is being able to go offline for 3 minutes and most likely not get sniped while you're away.

My suggestion, use lavaloon (2 lavahounds, 20 loons, rest mins). For cc i asked for two loons and rest mins. 3 rage one heal spell. Put your th out and hope someone snipes you. Don't depend on defences for cups that high, the more you raid the higher you will go. Gl, hope you make it!

Thanks for the tips and the encouragement, I'll give that a shot as well and see how it goes!

Unfortunately as TH9 you will only win a defense is a player is dropping cups or another lower level player attacks you thinking they have a chance because you are TH9 and lose.

IMO, either throw your hall out, and try cut your losses to 1 star. Or throw a juicy DE storage in the corner of your base; hoping a farmer takes it and leaves.

Just absolutely plowed a town hall 7 for 23 trophies, second one of those I've seen tonight. I love these kids. Lvl 48 for this last one, that's insane. Hope I find more haha
