Hate to bring this up again, but I, too, think the thread rating system is pointless right now. Here's what I think should happen:

    1) The original poster should not be allowed to rate his/her own thread.

That's why most ratings are 5-star. They are the only ones to rate and then try to say that it's excellent.

I still don't know why the Mods haven't yet increased the required rating count before the forum displays a rating...
    ...
Could have sworn I saw that bit of info before, a setting where it doesn't show a rating until after so many people rate it. I I can find is this...
    http://forum.supercell.net/faq.php?f...rating_threads

Kind of a moot point, give how you can ♥♥♥♥♥ the system and stuff it full of whatever rating you want.

P.E.K.K.A. is female, discussion closed. Check the wiki page. (http://clashofclans.wikia.com/wiki/P.E.K.K.A)

And thanks for the mocking interest on the real topic.

Instead of each user being able to rate a thread from 1-5stars, how about they just add a "Recommend" button. It could be be just a thumbs up icon similar to the "Like" feature in social media platforms. Using this method a thread can gain "stars" once the number of recommendations reach a certain threshold (e.g. 10=1star, 25=2stars and so on..) This method would show which threads are interesting/entertaining/good reads and eliminate the risk of people trolling others with low ratings.

I don't know if that'd work with the low traffic areas of the forum.

Also, much of the lack of use of the rating system on here is because of the poor layout of the user interface. It just kind of blends in with the rest of the features and options, which also look equally as bland.

I agree, it should be replaced with a like/dislike, as that would be more accurate as to if its good or not. Because of how it is now, you can't see how many people have rated it, so it looks like a great 5 star if the OP rated it himself. But it looks like a sad sad thread if there's 1 like

Yeah, I don't know who rated them.

I wouldn't post it here if I didn't believe it was relevant.

Yeah. And it could be duped by deleting a post that rated the thread. The rating sticks, but the past post is gone, but only the Mods can see who did the stealth voting.

This post gives a 5 star rating. So do the math on how many votes there were by seeing the new average with one added value of 5 to the mix.
I suppose so, and also, off topicers don't really mind all of this

But why IFR? Why not general?

Getting back to this I missed before, as much as that would fit game theme, I think that wouldn't give enough detail as to how good a thread is, unless you deal with half stars, and then might as well have just about the same amount of detail as a 5 star system.

Wasn't a bump. Just hadn't gotten back to this in a while.

I guess that could be done. There is a respect rating system here, which I think is a +1/-1 point system which no upper or lower limit. With some programing, can see that being used.

One issue I see with the current system (as said before) is that things are displayed so blandly. It is easy to over look, unless you actually know about it, look for it, and want to imprint your opinion on it, which usually is 1 star or 5 stars, since people feeling less indifferent usually don't bother with it it.

Why IFR? Simple. I lurk here. Don't feel like moving elsewhere... as... huh... good or bad that is.

I admit there are a few posts that would work better elsewhere, but I just don't have the drive to check there, and here, and so I don't post elsewhere, (besides the Bugs and problems forum at times)
Huh, I can't rate this thread anymore. Either my vote is already counted (and forgot, which is another issue, what did you rate before, and can you change?), or Mods have already done stuff. Damn I hope so, thing needs work!
