[Forum Feature] Fix Thread Rating System

There really isn't much to be said about it. Either remove/disable it, or fix how it is displayed on the webpage, because currently it is misleading and far from representative nor accurate to public opinion.

1. You can rig results too easily. (only a Mod can likely see direct evidence as to who stuffed the ballot box)
2. One person rating it can mark a new bad thread as 5 stars of awesome, or a new good thread as a 1 star waste of space.
3. The rating options are in a poorly placed spot, and prone to being ignored by most everyone, from newbie to regulars alike.
4. And usually is ignored by most everyone that knows better anyway.

So... yeah.. Remove or redesign it. Currently it is a distraction, at best.

To be honest, I never pay it any attention, and can't remember the last time I bothered rating a thread....

Does anyone ever click in a thread due to its rating?........

Its not the thread rating system. A lot of us don't even know what that is or at least pay it no heed. (I don't) Guys go for what grabs their fancy and most of all what is entertaining.

I think you might get a little to hurt when you see other things getting more attention than threads you started. I see you all the time on threads (and even just moments before you put this up) adding not comments to the point of the thread but complaints that people aren't paying more attention to yours.

I know you think your ideas are all awesome and should be bigger topics (and some are decent, I give fair support when I think that) but you should keep in mind everyone here thinks THEIR idea was the awesome one. Your own anxiety to get your idea threads read and supported is maybe a bit stronger than it should be. Many of us, myself included, have never gotten more than a few hours before page 3 never to return. Its disappointing, I do understand that. but better to be a good sport about it.

I'm sure there are some, likely new people that are used to relying on such things to direct where they should go. It is why I reported Fanboy## once before, mostly to report the flaw directly to Mods, as well as point out that he trolled a thread in a different thread.

It is usually a joking rant. The last one was mostly a 'wow, explosive thread, too much to jump into' than a '*cry* why no attention to me?' Also, I don't just drop into any thread just to say stuff like that. It was a zapping thread. Does it really need any more serious words spent on it? Yes, people love to argue, but the main point of my post was said right off the bat; implied waste of time. Who here is going to argue against that with such a thread? Sorry the OP has an issue, but they are hardly the only one. Best advice is save some of us the trouble and search for threads that have been there, and done all the work and arguments already.

Yes it hurts when seeing more attention to less important things when other stuff just gets buried, but that's life, and it goes against my nature to actual whimper and cry for attention. Rant maybe, especially when tired of having to pick my idea thread up off the ground again and put back into view, along with other threads I found interesting, if it doesn't mean double posting or bumping. Much of the times I mention it is part fuming on a common issue that has yet to be addressed, and part making light of it.

You think I don't know others feel the same way? How many times have you seen me empathize with newbies? One reason I bring up the 'wish my ideas got that much attention' it is partly for a, "yeah, me too", than for anything personal (may need to work on my delivery of those statements...). I hate to beg and whine, or being an attention grabber. It grates against my ego and ideals. But I also hate to see the same issue be ignored, and same old ♥♥♥♥ happen day in and day out. I have a link right there in my signiture to an idea I think could work on fixing part of the issue, but I know it might as well be all but invisible, give how it blends into the background with everything else.

Anyway, back to the original topic? As why the rating system is badly executed?

I don't see what the big deal about the rating system is - there's not much point to it, in my opinion.

That's one of my points, the rating system feels almost pointless. So fix it or remove it.

It is a meta-suggestion/idea that can affect how suggestions and ideas are handled here, just like my other idea in my signiture with the link to the Newbie Catch. It is one step removed from talking about Clash of Clans. It doesn't mean it should be pushed to Off Topic.

Hm...its 2 stars now.

Yeah. And it could be duped by deleting a post that rated the thread. The rating sticks, but the past post is gone, but only the Mods can see who did the stealth voting.

This post gives a 5 star rating. So do the math on how many votes there were by seeing the new average with one added value of 5 to the mix.
