I think it would be a good idea to allow players to attack their own base designs to try out new tactics instead of having to do it in wars. I just think it would really help players try new attack methods and get better at them.

This idea is ruled out I'm afraid.

Climb the leagues instead and practice in single player attacks.

This can be abused easily. Set your base to the enemy's war base. Free practice attacks. Easy attack in war.
