To all those people saying gold to be spent on defenses and elixir to be spent on army, that doesn't always apply. Spells are part of the army and they cost gold, with one lightning spell costing more gold than my entire army cost of elixir. And the X-bow and Inferno tower require elixir (dark for Inferno) to use.

I'd love to see the ability to purchase walls with elixir, and if I had the choice between just elixir or gold to spend on walls, I'd easily choose elixir.

Lightbulb Take these statistics into consideration

Ok now BEFORE anyone else comments, take this into consideration:

Total cost to max elixir upgrades: 225,813,300 elixir
Total cost to max gold upgrades: 388,456,000 gold
Already a difference of: 162,632,700 extra gold.
Now, to MAX walls is ANOTHER 1,205,300,000 Gold!

Meaning you need a total of 1,367,942,700 EXTRA gold than elixir.
So what happens to the extra 1.367 billion elixir roughly you would get while attacking to steal that gold? As I normally average the same elixir as gold when attacking.

Now, just to make matters WORSE, it costs gold to rebuy spells, search for players at 750 Gold each 'Next' for TH9 and even 1000 Gold each for TH10! And i dont know about you guys, but sometimes i spend more gold than I actually make, JUST trying to find someone to attack at bad times of the day! Even at a good time you can still spend 25-50% of the gold you get from the attack, just finding it!

So with this update, it would completely revolutionize the game in the fact that people can get what update, when they want it. As they can spend the opposite resource on walls. The games gold vs elixir upgrades is already over 160+ million difference, lets not make it worse by making walls cost ONLY gold for another 1.2 BILLION, there should be options, gold OR elixir, so you can choose to buy with gold, or if you wish, elixir.

I will edit first post to include this information as well.

Thankyou! Exactly. The imbalance is a bit crazy. Any sort of Exchanging or anything gold for elixir and vice versa has been ruled out by Supercell that it will never happen, so having the options to buy walls with gold or elixir makes the most sense, as walls are the most costly and versatile object in the entire game and could easily help balance the entire gold/elixir issue. And with the extreme costs of walls, there will be no 'overpowering' or killing the game with the choice of buying with elixir. People will still spend elixir on elixir upgrades, it's just to give people the option to buy what they want, when they want, and not always have to feel like they have to 'waste' elixir and builders on elixir upgrades they dont want

I always spend all my gold but have loads of elixir so this is a great idea.

The fact that you did the math and showed a visual of the ridiculous imbalance creates an argument that supercell can't ignore, or at least shouldn't. Looking at the 1 billion or whatever it was blew me away, I didn't realize it was actually that big of a difference.
very intelligent post and you presented it in a great way AND like you said supercell won't lose money over this. Great job. I hope they see this

Can you also take into account how much elixir is spent on troops?

    I like it.

Good idea, brings balance to the game a little bit and I'm already finding it hard to get gold at TH lv 8.
