Stop. Just ... stop. You are clearly a teenager. Adults don't have this ridiculous "hurr durr don't be a rat" mentality. If everyone held others accountable for their terrible behaviour (and I agree this is on the milder end of the "terrible" spectrum) then we would have a better world, not just a better clash community. You aren't a gangster, I promise, grow up and join the land of people who don't say rude and childish things about each other.

Your anecdotal opinion about whether this particular brand of language is offensive (or should be) is completely immaterial. By the ordinary standards of reasonable people this language is inappropriate and your shaming someone for wanting it to stop is, at it's distant conclusion, how we end up with teen suicides from bullying of LGTBQI persons and the like.

With all due respect. Just close your computer and go on with your day.

Yes he still enforces the law and the wrongdoer is punished, but it irritates him as well as his fellow officers when they get called for something so insignificant because there are bigger things to worry about in this world than a teenager selling candy from school in front of a Stop & Shop without permission

Far worse trash talk happens in high school locker rooms. It's petty. Get over it and use it as something fun. Professional athletes trash talk each other all the time on the field. It's part of the game. Grow thicker skin and stop complaining about insignificant things because if police officers get aggravated at these petty calls, best believe moderators get even more aggravated at the amount of reports they get for petty things
I'm apologise if I'm misunderstanding ... but your logic seems to be based on the premis that the ordinary standards of reasonable people should be dictated by the actions of either high-school lockerooms, or professional atheletes. That being the case, I don't think I can take the rest of what you say seriously. (see: Michael Vick, college football gang rapists, Ray Lewis, OJ Simpson, ... heck! even Alex Rodriguez; these are not comparison exemplars that assist your position)

Read the rest of my posts. If we all sat around worrying about giving tickets to everyone driving 60mph in a 55mph zone, there wouldn't be enough cops on the road to get everyone

There are certain things that, while wrong, should just be let go. Not all rules or laws are meant to be followed to the T. Sometimes they are mere guidelines to keep some kind of order. If my speed limit example wasn't enough, I can give more if you'd like. The vast majority of drivers don't follow the speed limit. Most people go a little over. Do you rat all of them out? No, because it's not worth it in the grand scheme of things

To make it simple, people need to use their judgement to assess whether or not something requires attention. It's rude to not hold the door for someone behind you. Does that mean for every person who doesn't hold the door for you, you'll tap them on the shoulder and tell them how rude they are? No, because it's petty

I think you need to stop listening to your "uncle the cop" and maybe later in life take a law degree (I have, it was very enlightening). Your examples are not illustrative to me in a way that assists your position in the least, this most recent one fails to delineate between acts and omissions which is fatal to your point.

I ask you. If we, in a perfect world, had enough resources to enforce the speed limit against all who broke it, would there be virtue in that or not? I would put it to you that there would be (e.g. fewer traffic accidents). That we don't currently have those resources and police officers need to make judgements about which laws are more important than others is a crying shame, but it does not make it virtuous to break laws.

You're completely misunderstanding the point. I never said breaking rules and laws were okay

Is breaking the law ok? No. Is breaking the speed limit the right thing to do? No. If someone goes to court and says, "Your honor, I was *only* driving 1mph over the speed limit" is that a viable defense to avoid punishment? No.

Do we as a society have the time to focus on insignificant things like someone driving 1mph over the speed limit?

    No.

The trouble with telling people that certain transgressions are petty and shouldn't be reported is that it is a slippery slope.

We are then putting a lot of faith in everyone having a shared understanding of what is and isn't OK. Everybody thinks that their personal version of the unwritten rules is the correct one but they will all differ slightly.

Im not a big fan of rules but if we must have them, they need to be followed, and no one should feel bad about reporting breaches.

Also to the person who made the 'womanisation' comment above, just wow. Have you just woken from a 50 year coma?
