    Clan Leadership

Hey! I made this account just for this suggestion, maybe I'll even stick around
I've also had a quick look over other suggestions and changes and not found anything similar to this (or I may have just missed those threads)

I'm currently a co-leader in a clan of around 45 people, along with 7/8 other co-leaders, and our leader has disappeared. In fact, I haven't seen him since I joined the clan (~3 months ago). We also had one player accidentally raised to the rank of co-leader, who is also inactive and happens to be our weakest player by far (I don't quite know how this happened). Due to this, I cannot kick him/her or kick/demote others who are co-leaders that keep screwing around with the clan settings or start wars excluding people they dislike in the clan.

Would it be possible to come up with a system that allows for a co-leader to become a clan leader (or at least gain their abilites), either through a voting system or some other parameters. This would mean a clan could always have an active leader, preventing the aforementioned scenario from happening.

I'm aware there are problems with this, mainly ensuring existing leaders aren't unjustly overthrown. Any ideas on how to prevent this would be appreciated

    I hope that makes sense.

I dont see why you would create an account just for the sake of this thread. Anyways, when the leader leaves, someone else should be selected as leader automatically.

I have to start somewhere. Would I have been able to make a suggestion otherwise?
And that may well happen, but the leader has not physically left the clan (are they removed after inactivity already?). So he's just sat there, inactive, taking up a place and making an easy target for enemy clans in a war (leader is relatively low level)

Since I can't really formulate an opinion on this topic, i'll just make a list of pros and cons:

    Pros:
Reduces problems in clans with inactive leaders
Allows for the clan to reorganize without making a new clan

    Cons:
Can be done by making a new clan
    Can be abused

And if this is to be implemented my personal opinion would be to have the leader not log in for 3 seasons before the voting starts.

Just wait him out. Supercell deletes accounts that have been inactive for over 180 days. It might be a long wait, but if it's a really good clan then it's worth it.

Your scenario is probably one of the few scenarios in which your idea would benefit everyone. In most cases a rebellion and coup d'état within a game wouldn't sound too good with the players (especially leaders from countries that have undergone coup d'etats in the recent past).

Most often, troll might do this because they can really become leader now. I know some of my RL friends might try to overthrow their leader "for fun". Overall, I don't think that implementing a leader overthrow system would be fair because the leader legitimately started it. Internal politics wouldn't be good for the drama, the player base or SC's profit bags.

6months is more than enough time to try start up a new clan, of you can get many of your current Clanmates to come.

Cheers, see you around the forums.
P.S. there is nothing wrong with making a new account for this thread.

A common trick for high level trolls (aka jerks) is to join a low level clan and say he will stay if they make him leader. If the leader caves to clan pressure and hands it over the guy then kicks them all and destroys the clan. fortunately more often than not the leader refuses, the guy moves on. But this gives a way he can talk the others into tossing their leader and giving it to him so he can troll.

This should not be done at all ever. it will get abused and in any event, no matter how bad a a leader may be its still their clan. the way the game is designed is you vote with your feet if you don't like it.

If you guys truly want to be without those guys make a new clan and tell them all to follow you there. if they do then problem solved. if they do not then you were mistaken thinking they did not like the way things are running the current leader.

    Is that true?

If so then, then there's the solution already in place. I was going to say that a unanimous vote of co leaders should be able to demote a six months never logged in leader. That would have meant 183 days with a coded voting mechanism.

It it would be great if a co leader could private message the leader. Ask him to resign. The inactive leader probably does log in sometimes, but way too infrequently for chat or clan mail.

This issue is now more important with clan XP, XP and levels giving a reason against a mass exodus to a new clan.
