I think you should take out the part about it following the pack and slowing down for slower units so deployment of when and where becomes more of a factor. I think it would increase the strategy behind the unit. Imo anyway. Other than that I don't see many problems with it.
Ps I did the math on hp and damage. Not sure it overpowers higher tier troops too bad especially for max th9 and 10 bases
While I do agree that this would make more strategy, doing this would make the troop terribly underused and underpowered, because the Volcano Mage could just wander off on his own. I want his AI to be like the Healer, and there's already strategy on where to deploy him because he has low hit points.
And thanks, good to know this troop wouldn't terribly overpower high tier troops.
