Right and the most reasonable way you could think of is still completely impractical. That's the point.

If they don't consider it a priority, then it's a moot point.
The existing system does work. Your expectations for global are simply too high. People need to not get butt hurt because they are "unjustly" banned from global. It's only for 24 hours. It doesn't affect core game play. There is also no penalty.

The choice is really to eliminate global chat entirely or deal with the imperfections of the current system. When faced with the alternative, I'd rather they keep the imperfect system they have now of player based moderation.

If you and I each hop on global right now and gauge the successful enforcement of "Please be respectful and polite towards others. Offensive behavior is not tolerated" as whether the existing system works or not, I would be very surprised if we came to different conclusions. It isn't working.

I don't endorse eliminating global and I don't believe that dealing with the current reporting system's imperfections is the only other alternative. Hence the existence of this thread. You disagree, which is fine. Neither of us will succeed in changing each other's minds; it happens. Marika, SC staff folks, et al have likely seen the idea by now and will evaluate its merit on their own, which was all I wanted to begin with. I don't have anything else to say about it nor do I intend to bump this thread again.
If you need to ask "Should I upgrade my Townhall?", the answer is no.

I do. Global just gets people banned. Build a recruiting tool to replace it, remove global entirely, and SC can use the employees who are currently swamped with ban requests to actually be productive.

Except for a random lucky recruiting effort once in a blue moon global has degenerated into a purposeless cesspool. It is too large to moderate and wasting SC's time and effort. Just call it a failed social experiment and sell the transcripts to some physiologist who is writing a book about the decay of humanity.
