    Global Moderators

I think there are a lot of players who would help in cleaning up the chat on global if there was anything we could do about it. I propose that SC develop a global moderators program where players who have proven themselves sufficiently worthy in some manner would have the ability to discipline players on global. It makes sense for that coordination to occur here on these forums, though I will leave the vetting process and the proving of applicants' identities to smart policy and technical folks...

Such actions would need to be logged for review (and perhaps limited in number of actions per day), and I wouldn't propose that the moderators on global have power beyond banning players from global (no game bans, etc). Though on the server back-end, I think players who are repeatedly banned from global should be subject to longer bans as offenses pile up. 1st offense 12 hours, 2nd offense 24 hours, 3rd offense 2 days, 4th offense 4 days, 5th offense 8 days... to a limit of 32 days for each subsequent ban, maybe?

I think there are a significant number of classy, patient, tactful adult players who would like to help clean up global. Some way to do it is all we need.
If you need to ask "Should I upgrade my Townhall?", the answer is no.

There is not enough soap made in this world for the shower I would need.
If everything angers you then you will spend your entire life being angry.
If everything pains you then you will spend your entire life in pain.

There are thousands if not 100s of thousands of individual global channels, in tons of different languages, containing millions of active players. The idea that SC would appoint moderators based on the forum (which is only in english btw and contains a very tiny fraction of the total user base) to police global is a logistical impossibility.

This is why people in global police themselves. Granted the system is far from perfect, but it's the only one that is really practical.

The idea of integrating the village (player in-game) with moderation powers with a forum user here for the purposes of verifying identities and having a way for SC to communicate with the proposed global moderators here was the most reasonable way I could think of. It speaks nothing to additional languages, certainly. English seems a good test pilot. If I'm SC would I start hiring linguists to lead teams of moderators across the globe? Perhaps not. I get it.

The existing system just doesn't work. I'm not going to attempt to judge how important that should be relative to other development initiatives, but I would say that if SC considers cleaning up global to be a priority, there is a large segment of players who would be willing to help. If they don't consider it a priority, then it's a moot point.

There is a report function. If it doesn't work to your standards, oh well. Hiring mods is not the answer as that costs money. You cannot have regular players "prove" themselves to be mods. It's not possible for one. For two, the power will be abused. Why? Because there is no real consequences to it. You are not paid so you don't have to find another job if you are kicked from this. And I'm not going to do this as a career for free.

This will most likely never happen.

Edit: I really don't care about global chat. I don't use it. So if I was SC myself, I would be happy with what we already have. Global chat is not why people quit the game.

The best answer is to create a searchable/sortable/filterable clan recruitment/player recruitment interface with no chat function. Clans can select things like War/farm/trophy/level/etc. requirements that players could search for. Players could also check boxes for similar interests so that clans could search available players to recruit.

    Then just eliminate global entirely.

I agree. But then people will begin to suggest adding a global chat. We just can't please everyone.
