Operational Barracks whilst upgrading

​The title says it all really. I'm currently upgrading 1/4 of my Barrack's and it has 5 days left. I'm also upgrading walls right now so I need plenty of gold, and I need to get resources ready for upgrades as other builders will be free today and tomorrow. To get resources I need to farm, which means I need barracks to make troops.

The issue is, I only have 3/4 operational Barracks, and I'm sure many people have less than that operational at times. When my house is getting refurbished I still use the shower and get ready, so why can't my troops use the Barracks whilst it's having a bit of a makeover?
