You can't ban players from joining clans, the social aspect in the game is huge. Without it the game would be boring for many; SuperCell don't want to risk players quitting over that.

Giving players a longer war timeout for withdrawing early in a war though might be a better idea. That way players who opt into a war would be more inclined to stick it out - leave after the war. That is what most of us want.

Opt in is the default. Regardless, this will never happen.

    Two things:

    1. I had previously suggested to automatically change a player's war preference to OUT whenever he switches to a new clan. This is usually a rare occurrence so it should not be a great inconvenience to opt back in if that player wants to participate in a war with the new clan. (Even in those cases, many clans do not let new players participate in the first war upon joining so there may not be a hurry to opt in right away.)
    2. After the war search has been initiated, the list of participating players can be seen, so if any player get accidentally included it would be easy to cancel the war search and start over again.

I have seen so many threads on this and agree its an issue but any solution needs to be REALLY careful not to over step. What if its a constant war clan you want to leave and you are not on in time to get out? What if you get kicked... does a player get penalized? What if the clan is a bunch of jerks? Bottom line is players should have that choice.

However with opt in/out feature a leader could and IMO should be more selective of who they take to war. If somebody just joins my clan and I have never spoken to them and know nothing about them... then chances are I will not be including them in my upcoming war. Get to know them first before including them in your wars.
Leader of clan Ironclads. We are always looking for new members. We value camaraderie, teamwork, and maturity. We war once a week thanks to the Opt In/Out feature that gives players choice! Chat is kept clean and respectful. Come by and say hi!

i do agree that there should be some kind of penalty, but yours is an extreme one.

People doing that are a huge pain... We had a new recruit once, everyday he was asking "so, when do we start war?"... we war once a week, so we told him.
As soon as the war started on Wednesday, as planned, he leaved without a word...
I think those players just hope to see an ultra-easy match, to have big and easy loot.

However, he can't join another war for three days, and it's clearly visible in his profile. We never accept players who leave their clan if they have a war going.

    Impossible ideas

You cant set hard rules for this. I have had to leave clans on prep day before because they were nasty, abusive fools. I joined one clan who were decent to me because of my base level then proceeded to allow new players in before ridiculing them and kicking them. I have also had the experience of joining a genuine guy in a small 10 player clan and he has then been left in the lurch as half his clan left on prep day.
Unfortunately there is no way Supercell could tell the difference between these scenarios and the true hopper who annoys the hell out of all of us. They could never giver power to leaders and co's because any visitor to global will see many newer clans dish out Co-leader as if it's nothing.
Unfortunately the only answer is don't war until you are happy you have decent, players who wont hop. If you want to declare with new players you don't know then you know the risk.

Doesn't guarantee people wont leave during war, but it should weed out the worst hoppers.
This is exactly what I do, but we are an established clan, for those trying to start out it must be tough. I think if a new member doesn't like that I opted him/her out and leave it proves me right to do it. That said I did it yesterday and a guy said he was gonna visit a friends clan and come back for next war, kinda didn't get the message...

I do agree with the op to an extent, it is damn annoying when people leave in war, and if you are only a small clan you may not have enough people to go to war and opt new people out.

I would say also the op is being harsh, but I would be in favour of an extra 48 war hour cool down for those who ran out of war without using both attacks. But if that were me, and I didn't care I would drop an archer on each attack and leave anyway. That way you trick the system.

See op, not quite as easy to fix as you think, best to try manage your war participants better.

Umm, disabling the "Leave" button during prep day? then re-enable it once both attacks are done? lol

1 & 2 are epic ideas! But make it 7 or 14 days instead of 10.

"They had more TH10s than us!" - Sure, but you had more TH9s and none of their TH10s even have 240 troop space.
"Darn! I got disconnected...again!" - Weird how you always get disconnected after something doesn't go well during the attack. Somehow the game always disconnects you after it is clear that you failed to pull the CC on your hog attack.
