how do trophies work?

so since i started playing i have only ever been able to get 31 max trophies from a 3 star win

today i got attacked and 48 trophies taken from me i think this is odd so i go and have a look at the base that attacked me and they are only 150 trophies behind my trophy count

anyway i though who cares i'll revenge him but there is no revenge option on this base (all other revengers are there but this one single base)

so my question is what determines the amount of trophies you can get from a 3 star win and how many is the MAX amount of trophies you can win/lose from attacking or being attacked

also why can i not revenge this one single player when i can revenge EVERYONE else?

If you attack a player first, he then can revenge you.

If he does revenge you, you will not be able to revenge him back.

the Max you can win is 59 on offense. Minimum is 0.

Max win on defense 39, min win 0.

This is correct.

Generally speaking the trophies the enemy wins is slightly more than the defender loses. Usually by 1 trophy sometimes there is no difference. This allows players to gain higher trophy counts etc.

This is the case only for matches that occur below 1000 trophies (with a few exceptions in extreme cases). But the difference is usually not 1 trophy, unless you're very close to 1000. The gap between what the attacker wins and the defender loses grows larger the close you get to zero. This accounts for the gradual rise in trophy counts seen at the top as these new cups get filtered up.

Minimum is actually 0. If you revenge people way below you, you literally have nothing to gain in terms of trophies. Also, max for a defensive win (offensive loss) is 39.


Cup offers for beating an opponent are 100% based on the trophy gap between you and your opponent. A rough formula for this can be found in the link in my sig.
