Tax on Gems?

A clan member of mine swears there is now a tax on his gem purchases. He purchased gems last week and didn't pay a tax. He says this week $99.99 now costs $115.76. He is from Washington and uses Google play. I have also never had to pay a tax


I have heard some grumblings on this in the pas but didn't pay much attention. I have searched on Google , and here in the forums and did not see much.

I know there is tax on itunes, but I am not sure about google...

I have Itunes and do not pay a tax. Maybe because I am from a tax free state?

Only thing I can think of is maybe he lives too close to Canada where they put a 20% tax...but that's not right at all. I'm not sure what it is, contact support maybe?

Maybe thats my case cause i am taxed for it and live less then 45 minutes away from canada

Hi,

since the start of the year both Apple and Google now levy tax at the rate in the country in which they are purchased rather than the country they are sold and this amount is built into the price of the gems hence the price increase earlier this year.

So before you paid the tax rate in whatever tax haven they put themselves, now you pay your local rate.
