The title has been bugging me for a little while now.

Anyway Clash of Clans is actually a much easier game to progress through then many similar games. Some free to play games make you hit a wall where, frankly, you simply can't proceed any-more without the paid currency.

You can do everything free on Clash. Just takes time.
