At the minute we have randomly spawned trees, bushes, gem boxes and mushrooms etc. but what if we had randomly spawned villagers that appeared in our villages/bases that were up to no good? Spawned objects currently appear whether a user is online or offline, and have no effect on the users game if they are not removed (other than not being able to move building on top of them until demolished).
My idea of evil spawned villagers would only apply to players who are online, who would be notified of the arrival by some sort of 'alert' system, much like the alerts that a player gets when the server is going to go offline for updates. The alert would be something along the lines of 'incoming villager(s) in 5 minutes...' for example. The player could then click on the alert to see how many villagers were coming, what type of villagers and what level the villagers were.
How many villagers could appear?
- Between 1 and 10 villagers can appear at any time
- Villagers can attack from all angles
- Villager types would be varied, and can be viewed prior to arrival in the alert system bar
What type of villagers could attack?
- Scavengers; these villagers can climb over walls and get to your resources (any scavenger can take up to 10k of the resource it is targeting (gold or elixer) and up to 50 dark elixer, so a user could lose up to 100k coins or elixer or 500 dark elixer if they did not successfully kill the villagers before they started grabbing loot - although 100k or 500 dark elixer would be unlikely, as this would require a random spawn of 10 scavengers after the same resource). Scavengers can only steal from storages!
Weakness: Cannons
- Destroyers; these villagers would have one goal - to destroy. A destroyer would be set to target your town hall, and any one destroyer can inflict damage of up to 5% (meaning if 10 destroyers spawned and were not killed, again, unlikely, you could have a maximum of 50% damage inflicted on your town hall. This would have no impact on upgrading your town halls level, but if not repaired, the damage would remain making it easier for attacking players to take down your town hall. Town halls can be destroyed up to 80% (leaving your town hall very vulnerable against other players if left at 20%). Town halls could be repaired using coins, perhaps 1k per 1%? Therefore a maximum payment of 80k to repair a town hall.
Weakness: Wizard Towers
- Pillagers; these guys are after one thing, your army! If you don't kill a pillager or group of pillagers, they will tie up members of your army and take them away. Any single pillager can take a troop value of 4 troops (meaning if 10 pillagers attacked your base, which is unlikely, as prior mentioned, you could lose up to 40 members of your army). Pillagers would be set to take troops from the lowest rank upwards (barbarian to dragon through to dark troops) so if you had say 40 barbarians, 2 dragons and a pekka, you could not lose your dragons or pekka, they would pick off your barbarians first.
Weakness: Archer Towers
Positives
So now I've identified the potential negative aspects of villagers to a user and their base, but what are the positives of evil, attacking villagers in to the game?
- Increased gameplay for online users, something to keep you busy between farming, wars and upgrading
- Rewards for killing villagers; this would be randomised and could include coins, elixer and dark elixer, with the occasional gem drop
- I suppose the idea would have an impact on people who are online but inactive; if a player is simply online to stop others from attacking their village, they're in for a nasty surprise! They might not lose resources to real-life players, but villagers would soon do the trick
I really believe in this idea, and I think it would be a great addition to the game. I'm therefore going to be editing and updating parts of this thread, as at the moment a lot of what I've jotted down is a rough copy, and would need to be thought about more thoroughly. Below are FAQ's (Frequently asked questions) which are responses to what you guys think or ask in your replies. I'm going to start by putting in a few questions and answers myself based on what I think people may ask. Feel free to have very honest opinions on what you think, whether you think it could work, and how you would/may change it. Thanks!
FAQ's
What happens if a scavenger attacks and I don't have any coins/elixer/dark elixer?
Then you simply won't lose anything as you're already suffering from a lack of resources (although it is pretty unlikely you won't have anything for them to get their hands on!) - Remember, scavengers can only take from storages
How do I kill a villager?
Villagers are killed through the defensive buildings already built in your village. Villager types have particular weaknesses, so a player must identify what type of villagers are attacking and set their defensive buildings to attack villagers. A player must set buildings to attack, they will not automatically attack; this gives the user a higher sense of gameplay and a greater challenge to defeat the attackers!
How often can villagers attack?
I think a maximum of once per hour would be fair. This would give players the chance to fix all damage if they didn't successfully defend their village, or a chance to play other features in the game without worrying about being attacked.
What if I don't want to be attacked and just get on with the game as it is?
This idea is set out to make the game more enjoyable to users and give them something to do between upgrades, farming and warring. I guess a toggle feature could be available so users can choose whether they want to allow villager attacks or not, but using this toggle feature would cost gems? (maybe 5 or 10 gems per toggle?)
What happens if I kill villagers straight away?
Great! You won't have any damage done to your village, you won't have any resources or troops taken and you could be in for some impressive rewards
How long does it take for a villager to do damage?
As outlined earlier, an alert system will inform players 5 minutes prior to the attack in order to give them chance to get ready - remember, villagers are weak to particular defensive buildings so you might want to temporarily move around parts of your village. Once villagers arrive it will depend on where your storages, army camps and town hall is. I would imagine users would have around 30-60 seconds to get attacking before damage is done!
