Everyone likes Elixir and Dark Elixir because you can invest it constantly in troops and spells. So I thought of something that can keep Gold relevant, even in the later parts of the game.
First, there can be a new booster building for existing buildings unlocked at Town Hall 4 (to allow lower levels to be able to use it), perhaps called the Ammo Store (Boom Beach reference not intended). What it does is, before you log off, you can start creating new types of "Ammo" for your turrets, such as Ice Arrows for Archer Towers (Freeze troops for a certain amount of time) or Fragmentation Cannonballs for Cannons (Allows splash damage), that use Gold as payment and take time to create, and every boost is active during the next defense (unless specified else).
Another new thing that you can do with Gold at Town Hall 8 is create buildings to collect, store, and use Hallowed Gold (after all, Town Hall 8 did have its one new thing, the Dark Elixir Drill, moved to Town Hall 7)! What Hallowed Gold does is create powerful, one-time use "Hallowed Traps" that can really turn the tide in the favor of the defense when used. For example, you can create a Black Hole, which is like a Spring Trap, but has longer range and sticks around for a few seconds, or a Spell Sponge, which can absorb a spell dropped on it. However, they take time to create, don't take effect until you place them, and only appear for one defense before you have to remake it.
Also, with Hallowed Gold, you can create the defensive equivalent of Heroes. These are Super Turrets (name not final), which are supercharged versions of existing turrets (just like the Barbarian King and Archer Queen are supercharged versions are of their respective troops), such as Cannons, Mortars, and Air Defenses. These Super Turrets are more powerful and have special modes like the X-Bow and Inferno Tower. For example, the Super Cannon (again, name not final) has a Single-Target mode and a Triple-Target mode where each shot is a third of the power of a Single-Target shot. Also, like Heroes, they cost a lot of the respective resource to build and upgrade.
There is also a special Laboratory for the defense boosts and Hallowed Traps where you can upgrade them with the respective resource. However, some things can't be upgraded (like the Spell Sponge).
I hope you enjoy, and I hope you will consider this, Supercell.
