I think it would be awesome if you could edit the terrain somehow. You could put your walls on a slope and th on a mountain! Add a terrain tool and make it cost more for how much changing they did to the terrain

Could you go further in depth on this idea-I like it, but would the terrain affect attacking or building placement
Ideas
Mountain terrain slows troops
Buildings on plateau most have the plateau destroyed to be attacked by ground troops-except archers or wizards
Forest would blur buildings in it
