CoC limits messages to 256 characters, so here's the long version of the policies of this particular clan "Trade For Glory."

This clan was created to be a sanctuary from common bad behaviors in other clans: arbitrary rules administered by the whims of adolescents, moochers and parasites who constantly ask for troops and rarely donate, trolls, mean people, etc. My vision is to provide a stable clan for friendly people to relax and enjoy the game while enjoying the advantages that clan participation adds (trading troops, war loot, advice, new CoC "perks," etc.).

No clan can be all things to all people. Many may want a war clan, or want to be co-leaders, elders, etc. Anyone can create a clan and/or join another clan. This clan will remain what it is for the foreseeable future, so if this clan is not a fit, it's a fine choice to choose an alternative without any bad feelings. Remember, it's just a video game.

General Policies:

Leadership: CoC permissions aren't designed very well. Most people are anonymous, so no one knows one another. Yet, granting even the lowest "elder" permissions allows a person to kick another person (and co-leaders can kick everyone!). To me, this allows for whims to trump stable policies and for rules to be based on arbitrary emotions--especially since many "leaders" likely won't agree on rules. I don't think most people would enjoy such a clan, especially those who are unjustly kicked out. Therefore, for the time being, I'm keeping promotions to an absolute minimum for administration. I'm not interested in power (and it takes more time than a video game should), but I believe this is the only way CoC allows a clan to be stable and predictable to all members. I believe that the members make the clan enjoyable and my role is simply to maintain the basic environment. Therefore, I plan on keeping rules to the minimum necessary to facilitate a pleasant environment that most adults will enjoy.

Donations: Parasites are common in this game and most clans I've sampled allow parasites to leech off the other members. This clan monitors donations and requires that everyone donate at least 1/3 of the troops received--a reasonable ratio. After the numbers are periodically reset, a little leeway is allowed especially for known donators. However, after receiving 100 troops, there should be at least 33 donations. Families may also pool their donation numbers so that one person may make-up for another who doesn't play often.

Trolls: Trolls are people who harass or are mean to others; or type more than the occasional foul language. Such people are usually adolescents and will be removed to keep the environment pleasant for others.

War Policies:

This clan wars twice a week beginning on Wednesdays and Fridays. Thanks to the new CoC update, war participation is optional. To opt-in or out, click on info/clan-wars and choose "I'm in" or "I'm out."

People usually scout out a target in war and train troops and spells accordingly. It's frustrating to train an army for a particular strategy and then find out that another clan mate has attacked that target in the mean time. This is a shortcoming of CoC which may be fixed in the future. However, for now, someone has created a web-site to facilitate coordination during wars called clashcaller.com.

TO PARTICIPATE IN WARS, IT IS NOW REQUIRED THAT CLAN MEMBERS AT LEAST LOOK AT THE LATEST CLASHCALLER.COM LINK to avoid attacking targets that others are preparing for. Those who attack targets already "called" will be removed from future war participation until they promise to use clashcaller.com.

Clashcaller links will be sent via clan-mail on the day that war is declared. Please go to the link (or search Clashcaller for our clan name) and type your name for the corresponding enemy village you'll be attacking. Please choose just one village until battle day is half over, and then feel free to "call" your second attack.

Target choice: Do not attack a village that has already been "called" on the clashcaller.com page. Please choose the highest village to attack that you're reasonably sure you can completely destroy (3-stars). The overall goal is to get the most stars to receive the most war loot, so we cannot all attack the bottom 10 villages and expect to win. Near the end of battle day, we can evaluate what's left an choose our second attacks accordingly to earn the most stars (assuming the war is close). CoC offers a "recommended target" but this advice is for newer players--after some experience in looting, most people will know that they can destroy villages above the "recommended target" with the proper technique (e.g., using dragons, spells, etc.).

In summary, this clan is designed to provide a pleasant and consistent adult environment for members to trade troops, advice, and to win war loot.
