Title says it all. I'm a Th9 in a clan that wars frequently and I am deciding between maxing one of these two defenses next. I figure cannons help with GoWi___, and ADs help with Lavaloonion, so which should I do first? My Xbows, Mortars, Teslas, and Archer Towers are already maxed, and I have decided to do the Wiz Towers last (although one is maxed already).

I would say do wiz towers first, but that's not your question.
I think that cannons 'can be missed' more compared to air defenses. If you get a giant-healer combo with all air defenses being upgraded, then you will most likely get a 100%. Every wiz tower/archer tower/tesla will hit their giants and their healers will heal faster (2 or 3 of them). Even with all air defenses it's quite possible that they will wreck you base.
So if you wish to take that risk, do all air defenses at once, if you don't want to, then don't.
At TH8 I decided to do them all at once. Got looned once so wasn't that bad after all. No experience as a TH9 though.
Honestly, your best bet is just to look at what has attacked you in the past. If you are usually attacked by ground then go for the cannons. If you get a lot of air attacks go for the air defense. There is no incorrect choice. They both will help just in different ways.
One thing (and this could be completely luck) is that some of the failed laloonion/laloon attacks were against lower ads due to the hounds not popping.
i would also say get the wiz towers up, huge jump in damage at th9 and would probably help more against loons then 1 more lvl of ad
I still don't see the point of upgrading canons first... In any case, an archer tower has the same range and same dps as a canon at the same lvl, and it shoot both air and ground troop... so always upgrade archer towers before canons...Originally Posted by erethizon

personally i did my cannons first cos they look badass, cheap to upg and quick to do. i was content with lv 6 air def but obv lv 7 are more intimidating and better. that being said you get extra health for your base overall on your cannons which wont attack air but may slow it down an extra few seconds as they destroy it. they will do better against ground attacks and may just cos of the lv ward off an attacker. if your one of your clans top bases doing 2 air/ 2 cannon might be a good idea to give a half/half balance to the mix.

Hell yaaa. This is what I did. I am about to be maxed TH9 def; cannons were my first upgrade. Air defenses were my last.

Archer towers are already maxed.
I'm the type of person to upgrade all of the same things at once. If you aren't like this I would recommend upgrading a mix of both.

That's the thing, I don't really get attacked much in wars. The number one person and myself are pretty close, but there is a huge gap between me and our number 3. Most wars I just get left alone, or someone just tries to 50% me to get one star.
I know it doesn't really matter in a sense since they will all be upgraded anyway, just was curious to see people's opinions.
