I found the name/concept on a recent forum thread by user 'muhammadzulzilaat' (Excuse me if I misspelt) and I was overjoyed when i finally found a good suitable name for a dark flying/ground troop.
Note: Excuse me if there is a forum thread similar to this or if this has been your idea before.
Note to Supercell: This troop may have to change the AI of some of the defences to respond when the gargoyle lands but I would appreciate it if anyone part of the supercell team took the time to read this
The Gargoyle:
The Gargoyle would be a flying/ground troop which, for movement, would soar across in the air but land to use melee attacks.
Target: Defences
This troop would trigger ground traps when it lands if there were any that happened to be there but would not trigger any type of air traps. Skeleton Traps would have to be excluded as they would be sitting ducks when the gargoyle would fly off and then would have to run frantically to the next position.
If the next closest defence is within 15-20 tiles the gargoyle would walk to the nearest defence. When faced
by a wall when walking, it would simply glide over.
Since both types of defences can target the gargoyle, it should have a large amount of health (maybe the same as pekka or slightly higher) and should take half damage from air-targeting buildings including inferno and archer towers and teslas. The damage output should be similar to that of a hog rider and its hammer but possibly a slower DPS due to its heavy figure.
The movement speed would be at 24 when flying but at 12-16 when walking. However, I am not entirely sure on the movement speed as I have no way to calculate this.
This troop needs a quite a bit of polishing regarding DPS and Health but I am looking to expand on this idea further.
