I'm really getting annoyed with the hero issue. Supercell - you are by the way doing an awesome job creating an awesome game - but you sending mixed messages about warring. On the one hand you are incentivising people/clans to war a lot more. On the OTHER hand, this is reality: heroes on offence is THE single most decisive factor when it comes to success at the moment. And we can't both have year-long upgrade times and war full time.
It is dumb and - I'm going to say it - greedy. We all know how much SC is making per day. By not allowing upgrading heroes to be used you are creating a hell of a lot of frustration, unnecessary clan management and players thinking "can and should I war with my queen down...". It's focus in the WRONG place, on the WRONG things!
And as a leaded, do I say "yes upgrade your heroes!" but do worse in war... Or do I say "no, don't waste time upgrading" which will set us behind long term? It's dumb and boring decision making with no good answers.
And finally, from a profit perspective. Yes - you might lose out in people gemming hero TIME. But people will still want higher level heroes. And in creating a FUN and UNCOMPLICATED game with easy leader administration, you will attract EVEN MORE players, which of course, in turn is the real profit. You are where you are today because essentially, you have created a FUN game.
Think about it and please make heroes available for war during upgrades. It was such a letdown that leaks on that particular topic turned out to be untrue.
