Th8 should always be three starred with hogs. They simply don't have the proper defenses to defeat them. In the most extreme case u might have to add a golem to your attack if you need to severely alter the pathing of your hogs, but for the most part it should be a wipe assuming u don't waste DPS or mess up heals. Hogging doesn't get hard until th9 and becomes insanely difficult at th10 depending on inferno location and mode.

Hogs will go off on different directions that cannot always be predicted (its not always the closest defense). Another thing that happens is spring traps. I just had a 97% attack where I had 8 of my hogs sprung off the map AFTER I had cleared every defense. The way they move is sometimes random and even with a great attack you're not always guaranteed a 3 star.

I also brought wiz for cleanup.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that even great hog attackers are not guaranteed 3 stars and there's nothing that can be done about it.
did you just proclaim yourself to be a "great hogger" because youve 3 starred a th8 a couple of times?

People asking another nerf for hogs belong to same category who say dragons are op. That category is th7 and th8 players. When you grow up, you'll see the truth.

I think you need a little help with reading comprehension.

Hogging has 2 aspects. Identifying bases weak to hogs, as well as the entry point to manipulate the hogs' movement, but don't forget heal spell placements will make or break a raid.

even with doing this properly ive had hog raids fall short because half of my hogs get sprung off the map.. which makes a huge difference. I guess what I'm saying is sometimes you can't control how many hogs are gonna get sprung.

all depends on the base and the stupidity of attacker.
1 star can be done by any one
2 star need a skilled attacker OR a stupid defender
3 star need a skilled attacker AND a stupid defender

    THIS IS THE KEY
i have seen well done mass dragons and gowipe getting 2 star only. come to my clan and watch reply

you don't always have to spawn them all at once , you can make 2 groups if needed , depending on the base . Hogs are still my best friend even after the nerf ^_^
oh and putting 1 giant before them is sometimes a nice thing

Spring traps are part of identifying bases.

    A) I'm not familiar with the term "asian walls". Tried googling, didn't help.
    B) I don't use hogs much, so I can't comment with direct experience. However, my experience with other troops tells me that the next closest target (whether a defense or just any building) is calculated from where the troop is, not from where the building is that the troop is attacking.

This is important, because it sometimes makes pathing impossible to predict. Sure, you can predict which target the troop will go to first. However, you can't accurately predict what exact tile the troop will be standing on while it's attacking that building. I can tap repeatedly (or tap and hold) one spot on the screen and have my troops arrive at 2-3 different tiles.

Because there are 2-3 different tiles the troops might arrive at, there could be 2-3 next closest targets once their current target is destroyed.

That's where the luck comes in. I think this is probably what's affecting the OP so much. I run into this a lot when pathing dragons (any target, ignore walls) or giants (defenses, avoid walls) or Heroes (any target, usually ignore walls when choosing a target).
