Just a thought, i dont understand why anyone would want to trade at full price when you each get the same amount of gold
ex.
10 nails for 10 planks max price

2700 gold for 2700 gold

i would always rather trade at the base price, that way, deals are faster, its the item thats important, not the gold

just my 2 cents

its just a safety thing in case someone is in your shop. If someone else grabs the item at least u got full price for it
