Yes, this is a cheap attention getting title, but I just want to get this point across in regards to the farm base (aka exposed town hall layout) issue.
After working on this problem extensively, it is clear to me that people are taking a too simplistic and shallow approach to the problem.
- People having thier Town Hall exposed for attack, for an easy shield, is only a symptom and not the root problem.
- Only 'attacking' the symptom by modifying the shields or Town Hall to make it less viable will make people leave.
- There is no demand for 'fixes' to this issue via any method of making the exposed Town Hall layout less useful.
This problem with farming bases (not to be confused with farming or loot farming) is a sign that the defense side of the game has too many disincentives for most people to tolerate, let alone find enjoyment in. This does not mean they are cry babies and need to 'suck it up' and just deal with it. A large part of the player base have overwhelmingly voted, with thier actions, for years, that Clash of Clan's base/village defense mechanisms currently have little to no redeeming values.
To most, getting raided is pure random punishment, with 'good traditional bases' making that punishment even worse in most cases.People using a 'farming base', either via doing the numbers, or playing well by gut feeling, have time and again calculated that they are better off metagaming and exploiting the game's sheild system, than to try to mindlessly grind and somehow outpace the loss of loot they would incur playing it as originally intended.
In short, stop with these ides that attempt to cover up the symptom, and let us attack the real problem instead, and fix the defense side of things.
