As a long term member of the forum community, I remember the constant complaints about the builder lag. Coming back recently, I have noticed these have completely disappeared, maybe because we have a new generation of players in. However, I think that the awareness for this issue needs to be resurrected.
What is the builder lag?
The builder lag is an occurence that happens every day, to every clasher who logs on. Basically, the time for something to upgrade is lengthened by short amounts of time. However, these short amounts of time add up, adding hours on to long upgrades.
It is believed the builder lag occurs at certain times during normal game play. One of the times it is believed to occur during is when clicking the "next" button. Every time that you click the next button, it is believed 5 seconds is added to all building times. Please note that 5 seconds is not added to train times, only building times.
Proving the builder lag
Although no one is sure what causes the builder lag or when it occurs, it is (or at least was) a commonly known bug. It is easy to spot when, for example, you haven't been up at 2 in the morning for weeks, and yet that is when an upgrade in which the time taken for it to finish is measured in days finishes at that time. To see for yourself that this is true, take note of when you start your upgrades for a couple weeks, and when they finish.
What is being done to fix this?
The answer, of course, is nothing. No hate intended, but supercell obviously has other priorities. A bug that causes people to spend a few gems on inconvenient upgrade finishing times is actually an earner for them. However, what we can do is organise our upgrading times to accommodate for the builder lag and try to petition to have it fixed.
Raise awareness for the builder lag! Petition to Supercell!
Jimmy.
