Definitely worth it, at 5 you get the hero ability plus it will be much less effort to upgrade it in later TH levels so you will thank yourself then

You get the King's ability at level 5, it makes him 3 times more useful. Honestly if you get him to 5 and leave him be for a while, you'll be able to upgrade troops while he dishes out extra damage from the ability. Definitely worth rushing it.

Lvl5 BK is waayyy more useful than lvl2 hogs. The king's ability makes it easier to raid. If youve almost maxed TH7 then you can just continue upgrading your BK in TH8 where you get lvl5 barch to loot and extra de drill.
I think I'm going to go th8 soon enough, have all the defences done or upgrading and maxed walls. Need to upgrade teslas as well but they're a massive pain.
I'd say max im at TH8. Extra drill, lvl 5 barch, it'll go a lot faster. TH7's generally don't have a lot to offer and you won't be able to access DE storage against TH8's.
I would recommend that you upgrade teslas to lvl3 while youre in TH7 since you will get another one and have to upgrade them 3 levels in TH8. If you think theyre a pain now then having to play catch up would be even worse. You can do them while youre upgrading your TH since upgrading teslas from lvl1 to lvl3 also takes 8 days.

Worth it but not easy. If you can stand not having his ability, then you can still upgrade him at TH8. Its much easier at TH8 to upgrade king, at least twice as easy
