That's a good point. On the contrary, as the lavas fly through the base they'll probably pick up the air bombs anyway (that's one of the reasons they are much faster than loons).

Its up for debate for Town hall 9s, but I still stand my ground entirely for Town hall 8s.

Exactly what he said, along with the fact that a single minion could trip all of them, wasting your air bombs.

I think your reasoning is sound, its just hard to implement without making it easy for the next person to bypass them completely.

For TH9s and 10s, I would advocate them being placed just out of the lava hound paths. Its really easy to see where they will go and from which direction you normally get attacked from.
put them just out of that path so they hit the loons or minions.

considering the goal below town hall 10 is not to get 3 starred, I don't see how an air attack would be successful either way if it was not going to go over the somewhat large portion of your base that the group of air bombs are strategically covered. I'm having trouble finding that point valid.

In terms of the one minion idea... that's why you wouldn't use this placement on the very edge. And no one minion is going to survive a journey into the base. In addition, people use balloons to clear the path for minions that do make it that far, which means the bombs would already be deployed.

Not a Great idea, seeking air mine near an air defense is a good idea, but not this. Having all air bombs triggers them all at once, if the balloons are all grouped up, they're useless. Also for a lava hound, they will all trigger making them completely useless.

If you are being attacked with Loonion or Lavaloonion, the balloons will take out the air bombs before they touch the minions anyway. Also, for town hall 8s being attacked by dragons, its more important to lower the DPS of the dragon attack ASAP. Therefore, slightly injuring 4 different dragons is less effective than severely injuring 1 dragon.

However, if you group these air bombs all into one spot, they can effectively take out a large chunk of balloons.

One example of an effective way to use this to your advantage in a scenario like so: You have a cannon at the edge of your base followed by an air defense on the second layer. An attacker assumes they can send in loons to bounce from the cannon and then take out the air d and effectively eliminate one air d so that they can deploy their dragons. After they deploy there balloons all 4 air bombs hit them all at once. Because of this, there strategy is ruined.

Just wanted to share this idea because I see a lot of people who don't really think about it. What are your thoughts?

Edit: This strategy is not suggesting you put them on the outskirts of the base. Its suggesting you put them a little deeper where balloons will group. i.e. Not one minion or 1 balloon could be sent in to deploy them all.
My max lava hound thanks you for feeding him more balloons

If you centralize them and some uses a golo holo strategy, they may not be looking to send air units into the center. The loons at that point aren't being used to 3 star the base, but break the ring, back end, or remove dgb locations.

that makes sense. I made this thread with town hall 8 in mind more than th9 and used most examples from that. For Th9 its definitely a hit or miss.
