This the kind of thread that makes posters look like the geeky Trekkie kids from Galaxy Quest!![]()
It does because none of those Trekkie geeky facts make any sense either.
But to anyone who cares about what would actually happen, a gun pointed level shoots further than one pointed at an elevation of 45 degrees, the maths is fairly simple, propelled object will start fall to along a hyperbolic curve as it starts to slow down due to friction with the atmosphere. While the height will allow for a small additional distance as is nears the end of it's fall it doesn't come close to covering the 30% additional distance it lost. A small elevation of 1 or 2 degrees may have a marginal increase on distance.

Obviously this post was a joke! There is no need to analyze the functions of the X-Box and why it shoots farther while set to ground. The reason the range drops for Ground & Air is simply because in order to benefit from targeting both you must sacrifice distance, and sacrifice air defence to benefit for range.
Why are so many trying to get technical with physics about a fictional game that isn't realistic in many many areas? He made a joke, which I found hilarious by the way. Please stop analyzing this like he posted it in a different sub-forum.

You're missing the physics here. F=MA Going uphill is more force than straight across
