Ok, so I am playing with the plan to fully max without spending a penny on the game, nothing against people gemming, infact im grateful to people who do gem for keeping the game financed for updates. As things stand i would class myself as a mid th9 and I have got to the point where I have decided to keep a builder free for walls (all elixir upgrades done except last heal spell level) I have 9 hours left to wait on that builder but have had full storages for over a day already. It would cost me 104 gems as things stand to finish the building and I have 112 gems.

So considering that in 9 hours time I will likely be about to sleep (gone midnight, have uni lectures tomorrow morning) would you use those gems and get 16 legos done with what is saved, and potentially 4-5 more through farming but reduce yourself down to 8 gems left or would you wait up and just do the 16 walls, keeping the gems?

if you dont plan to buy gems then i would keep them.... there is no chance that you would loose all of it... u might probably loose abt 300k each if someone attacks you and clean up...chances of this happening are also very less... so dont worry and sleep happily... u will not believe how many times i felt like this and ended up with someone just sniping my TH... not worth spending the gems...even if someone does clean up u can make this in a couple of attacks...

Well you are probably going to get differing opinions based if people gem or not. I would save your gems for boosted barracks' next time you are on you will make back what you lost and much more. I know the feeling of full storages and no builders it hurts because all you want to do is play and you can't so I would say just do whatever you feel is right.

Im not too worried about being raided as someone tried earlier and took 300k of the 1 mil I was offering to them and what was in my collectors filled it up straight away, I guess it's more that I haven't been able to do a raid in over a day (guess im a little addicted, I like to play a little each day) and when you have a free day and done all your work and everyone else is in lectures it gets a bit boring

I am a bit confused but I think you are asking if you should gem the completion time on whatever one of your builders is working on so you can spend all your loot on walls before you go to bed so people will not steal it. I am responding based on this, so correct me if I am wrong.

It is pretty standard for TH9s to be able to get 3M gold/3M elixir/10k de from using 40 gems to boost their barracks. My question to you is: Can anyone steal this much from you that it would be worth spending that many gems to prevent them?

If you only have 120 gems, keep them. There will be one gem events that you will need to spend those gems.

9 hours is nothing. The worst that could happen is that you lose 350k. Who cares if you plan to spend 16M.

It wouldn't be the same if you would have to wait 4 days for a builder. But then again, you would not have enough to gem anyway.

Yeah I can see what you are saying, although I don't boost barracks particularly often, I usually do it during events although I did it a few times since the last one. In the past i have saved until I had a load of gems and got builders, then after i got the fifth builder i kept saving them and used them to finish the th8 to 9 upgrade a couple days early because collectors and storages were full

I'd keep the gems, you'd get far more with 2-3 boost sessions than you could possibly lose by getting raided. Besides, at mid TH9, as long as you have a farming base and are in a pretty low league (gold, early crystal), you'll probably end up with a snipe anyway.

I would make another thread asking for a reform to elixir for walls, then slowly pour honey over my fully nude body while I read all the negative comments, from both sides, berating me until climax.

But that's just what I would do. I don't know if that helps with your particular situation.

My thinking is that if I don't gem it then by the time I finish lectures tomorrow I will have been 2.5 days without raiding in a time where I need to farm de to keep heroes going, if I do gem I can probably get 20 odd walls done today plus another 10k or so de saved
