I heard a rumor that if u look in the top corner and the bottom corner of your map layout, you will see the new troops that will be added. In order to see it you need to zoom in all the way. If this is true please let me know.

No its the symbol of the illuminati! Its the mark of the first kid to charge 1000$ on mommies credit card. Its really a sign of the expansion of the game map. It's where the piņatas gather before you can capture them.
Its te just part of the map, nothing more. No conspiracy, subtle hint, secret meaning at all.

Despite what others are saying, this is actually true. To make it work though you have to run your phone or tablet under warm (not hot, not cold) water for about 2 minutes 30 seconds. Restart the game and try then. Should work for you. I double checked after seeing this thread and it worked for me.
