At th7 I skipped DE upgrades expect for getting the barb king, and moved on to TH8. Also when I moved to TH8 we didn't have drills at TH7 either. I found it better to move to TH8 and then worry about DE stuff, but just make sure to have your defenses and walls maxed though.
