You dont have to use all 4/5 spells to raid. I could at one point get away with using one spell, some times 2 but then again I was farming & it was about getting the resources not the win.

The fewer number of spells you use the more careful you have to be about chosing the base to attack. Unfortunately it took a while to get the hang of it.

It is also worth making sure you have queued appropriate spells before raiding. Realising after you've dropped your balloon that the only spell you have left is a jump spell from earlier ground attacks is not the path to victory.

Balloons are for people who can't raid in sessions, but who CAN raid efficiently while hiding in the bathroom for a few minutes (like yours truly!). Its a very powerful army composition, so you don't need to next away 15 minutes of your life looking for an easy or barchable base. It's the perfect 'work break' or 'family life break' army.

I made it all the way through my TH10 upgrades with nothing but balloons, attacking 8-15 times a day total, without ever having a builder idle. Log on, attack, go do something else for a while, repeat.

My average net gold was probably somewhere around 3M a day, so that should tell you everything you need to know about how inefficient ballooning is compared to barch armies. If you are sitting down with two hours of free time and want to play the game until your thumbs bleed, you would be mad to use balloons. If you want to casually log on at your leisure and aren't afraid of getting attacked 12 times a day, ballooning is your new teacher, mother, and secret lover.
