    Spam Bot Solution

This wasn't really an Idea and Future Request worthy thought, since it didn't have to do with the games, and more the forums, so I tossed it here. If I'm in the wrong sub, a mod can move me. I don't really consider it off topic though..

My idea to get rid of language spam bots is to a time limit thing on new users. As a new user, you can reply to other people's threads, but you can't post your own until you account is 24 hours old.

    This would do two things.

    1. Clean up spam
    2. Have users read the forum rules

It would decrease the spam because bots can't decide to create an account, open an existing thread, post a reply, and repeat the process. If it's just regular spam and one person creating multiple emails and accounts and posting, then it would give them a deter of 24 hours, and they might lose interest or forget.

As you are aware, the Ideas and Future Requests, as well as other subforums, this one is just more noteworthy, there are a lot of people posting the same ideas without reading the helpful stickies. If you had to wait 24 hours, and you looked through other people's posts you would notice that your ideas are the same. If some other forumers posted things like "please read the stickies, this idea is ruled out" or "this idea has been requested already, please use the search bar function", you would refrain, in theory, from posting your idea.

I'm probably forgetting some holes to my plan, but I think long term wise, it might be a step in the right direction for a clutter free forum zone. Feel free to hate on it as well if you don't think it'll work.

    Cheers

    Ice

    Good idea
Would be nice to see it implemented along with several other ideas people have had about the forums, sadly they dont do much maintenance on them though.

Yeah... Could you make it so that if there are many very similar posts in the time span of one hour, there is an auto- ban or auto- report sent?

Is that too complicated to do? I have no experience in coding, so I dunno. :\

Your idea would be much more helpful if you knew how spam bots actually operate.

The great wide world of the Internet is packed full of information. Take some time to educate yourself and you will be able to come back with much better ideas.

Just ban the IP of the spammers. ban the 1st two octets of the IP.

yes.. Mods and supercell staff can see your IP addresses when you post comments and/or join the forums. usually it's located in the upper right hand side of the comment box which we (forum members) does not see.

Then make it a post requirement.

That's not how spam bots work. They switch proxies after every single session, and sometimes even during sessions.
