I think that the upgrade times should be shortened by at least 40%, due to the fact that I dislike waiting a month to upgrade my archer tower to level 2(Hyperbole).
If you don't like waiting several days for buildings/troops to upgrade, then buy gems and finish them instantly.
I don't like waiting, but I try to be patient with my upgrades. No upgrade takes longer than 2 weeks in the game, and if you are patient, the benefit of upgrading something that takes 2 weeks is sure to pay off eventually.

Waiting is what it's all about. Its meant to be a long term game that you can keep going back to. I wouldn't want to finish this awesome game in a few weeks or less.
