That is definitely on the cards. However, he is listening, his two builders are dutifully upgrading two of his three elixir collectors (he was supposed to build elixir collectors 4, 5 & 6 first, but hey. So he's is currently living on a single level 6 collector).

Can the parents or the wee one himself not afford the extra $20 to get up to 4-5 builders? Staying at 2 builders is pointless. Very pointless. At the stage he is at, without 4 builders you may as well start fresh.

Rushing your Town Hall is one of the worst things to do on the game. Usually people who rush their Town Hall are beginners like you said and don't know about the devastation caused by the 'loot penalty' to all Town Halls below your current Town Hall level. If you work hard at it, it is possible to recover. Although, when you've rushed as much as the person explain has. It is best to go to Town Hall 10 and just upgrade your troops. By upgrading your troops to high levels, this account can be used as a 'donating' account to Clan Members or your secondary account. It would be best he do this and create another account and start by maxing everything at his current Town Hall Level. Good Luck!

If he gemmed TH then might as well go the full yards and gem Level 5 Barb and Arch. Problem Solved! Then slowly work towards building up the village

    Yes.

My first advice was to wipe and start over. My own 10 year old volunteered that COC is most fun at low levels (up to TH5). After that it becomes a grind. Increasingly.

If he doesn't wipe, if he emotionally attached to his invested Christmas money, my advice is to (1) only spend gems on builders. (the third is 500 gems). (2) build all six elixir collectors and upgrade the lowest level collectors first. (3) Use builders to upgrade mines when only when out of gold; use gold only to upgrade collectors. (4) Try to have fun using tier 1 troops, the King and Queen, and minions. His 130 strong barcher army with King Queen and minions is probably fun enough.

I'll give it a while before advising to research barbarians or archers or anything to higher level. Much better to upgrade mines to make gold to upgrade elixir collectors. The barchers are already level 3.

I won't be advising to drop trophies. (1) at low trophies, the typical target has very low resources. (2) Teaching a kid to deliberately lose is neither easy nor natural.

Hopefully he can at least get the $5 for 500 gems for the 3rd builder.

And good luck to the little fellow!

And I see your point about dropping trophies. My 12-year-old son used to get mad at me when I farmed on his account, because I would drop 200 trophies in an hour of collector raids. I tried to reassure him that I could get the trophies back in an hour, and my priority was getting an upgrade started, but he still was mad.

Pretty soon his mines and pumps will be producing more then he can use just upgrading mines and pumps (they are cheap and take a long time). He really does need to get barbs and archers to level 5 (big step up). Also it should be easy to get his camps to at least 180 slots which would make a big difference trying to attack.

It was super dumb to rush but oh well, he still has a king and queen, with the queen being a nice addition.

What I would do if I were him,

    1. Keep his trophy count low and barch barch barch. BAM is good too, and BAM using giants work too.

    2. Prioritize upgrades for Archers, Barbarians, Giants and wall breakers and minions, and in that order.

    3. Make sure all structure are built. They're worth it.

    4. Leveling collectors- This might hold him back further right now, but these collectors generate free money over time and are worth the investment.

    5. Get those heros to level 5.

    6. Upgrade camps.

It'll take a while but he'll even out eventually. Yes the loot penalty will suck a bit but the added advantage of having the archer queen and higher level troops and camps will help a ton.

He is doing OK. Is managing to build resource buildings. Mostly barchers. Must be saving DE to upgrade King and Queen. May one day learn that the King is a great shield for Queen, not vice versa. He is using King and Queen to trophy push by sniping town halls.

He must get smashed every time attacked, but he has little to lose and seems to really enjoy his King and Queen winning. He may not donate to the clan very well, but at least he is having fun and learning.
