That other thread showed that very few would want to be attacked while online but if it was via an on/off so that it only happened if you said you wanted it to I suppose that doesn't affect most of us.

But here is the bottom line....There is a technical challenge with having a base doing 2 things at once that would have to be overcome and it is hard enough (much dev time to implement and expense to support) to be the deal breaker right there.
    Was that me?

I don't think there is a technical challenge. When attacked while online, whatever you were previously doing, it's the sme as losing your internet connection, except you have the option to watch live.

I like this idea. Whether toggled, or auto-detected, it sounds good. Why not be attack able when idle?

I'm often idle, watching chat, waiting for troops, reviewing battles. These are all interruptible.

If idle, I'd expect to not be forced to reload so frequently.

That's a different issue of the server not getting any info and just booting you off.

Now that I think about it... one main reason for that is to boot people that just log on and expect to stay logged on and not get raided. If you are going to be online, and preventing others from attacking you, you better be doing something.

But if that is not an issue, and you are allowed to be attacked while still online, I can't see why such an aggressive activity timer is needed. Awesome! Thanks for pointing that out! Idle mode could actually be a real idle mode, where you aren't kicked off every few minutes if the server doesn't get input from you! That will likely add more to the appeal of this idea!

After seeing a couple threads bring this up before, I thought I would pull this back up from the depths, since it already has more detail and progress on it.

Yes, I know, it is my own thread, but because it is something I made, I'm able to remember it easier and pull it up much faster than someone else's thread. Far as I can tell, there really isn't a way to mark a thread as a favorite or the like. Sure there is Subscribe, but I don't always want notices about threads that I only want to have on reference.

    Seriously...?

I REALLY don't like seeing necro-bumped threads even though they were yours.

Rather I scrapped the thread, and remade it? (aka spam and/or lose progress on the topic?) Especially when two others recently came up with the idea, but were less detailed?

I really hate waste. Redoing the same thing from square one is a waste of time and effort. Besides, if people actually searched, old threads would be necro-bumped often anyway. But instead, people don't, and spam. Would rather bring up an old thread with progress done on it than spam a thread with things starting from scratch.
