Idle Mode(?) - Mode to allow base to be attacked while online

Couldn't think of a good name for it. And yes, silly or possibly stupid, but asking around anyway.

I'm one of those crazy people that want my base attacked to try to get that defence win achievement.. Also it is just nice to see a raid give you so may trophies for just sitting there.

Anyway, the idea hit me that it would be nice if I could stay online, mess around with base layouts, talk to people on the clan channel, and still be available to be attacked. Right now I'm at an opportune time for base attacks. I'm stuck with no use for gold for 2-3 weeks while final upgrades are finishing (btw, upgrade your lab ASAP!), still want to idly raid, and have near max capacity gold in my storage. Elixir I'm able to raid enough for an army, and I have 9 days to get enough Dark Elixir for one last upgrade; so being looted isn't a real annoyance right now. Trophies aren't a big issue either, since I'm not trying to push for higher leagues, only to find bases with much higher TH levels than me.

So basicly the idea is you set it to (working name) Idle Mode, and your village access is locked, until of course you turn the mode back off. You can view your village, can see it get attacked, but you can't queue troops to train, move things, donate (?), or anything else you normally can't do while actually offline. Things you can do that don't directly affect your village would be chatting to others on the channel, viewing other bases and profiles, and playing around in the Layout Editor, with the active village slot locked, and unable to change what your active layout is.

I also suppose this Idle Mode could also be counted as your mandatory break when being online for so long, since your village will be attackable; and that's the main reason for that break. I suppose maybe you can get to see your village 'from the outside' and see what kind of loot values other raiders see.

Its a cool idea but its not to important in my eyes, most of the time (I said most) you can get attacked in like 5-10 minutes and you can watch the attack live, so the only thing you will really miss is chatting. Which you can take a 10 min break from, make a sandwich or some other food idea and just chill out till you are attacked.

Wow. Forgot that was a method for that achievement. Actually how would you be mad? You had to be offline all that time for it to work or something?

You already know it depends on base layout, league/trophies, appearance, and loot holdings. If you look easy enough with the amount of loot you are holding, or able to be TH sniped, yeah, it can will go fast. For me it has been a ♥♥♥♥ shoot. Even with near max gold of almost 4 million, easily breaking the loot able cap, it doesn't always take 5-10 minutes to get attacked. But I've been at a lower league for a while for loot, so not as many people were up to feeling like they can take my base. While holding a million of gold and elixir, it usually takes all night and part of the mornw before someone maybe feels like attacking for some reason.

Not sure; it could. Also it could be a button somewhere that puts you in that mode, and then you press another button to get back out, akin to viewing most other features, like Clan Wars, Replays, Base Visits, and Layout Editor. Would likely have something in red letters saying what mode you are in, like how the Layout Editor works.

Of course there will be times when you just can't get out of that mode, like when your base is being eyed over for attack, or actually is being attacked.

I guess that would make the most sense that it would be a different mode you click into and out of. One that disables several kinds of buttons, and doesn't allow buildings to be moved, upgraded, or used.

You could I guess click on things, and view them, as if you were visiting someone else's base, but it would be your own.

If viewing it and under attack, the same display you would see in war while viewing a war base that is getting attacked would likely be used. As in, there would be a red message saying 'This village is under attack!' along with something like a 'view live!' button.

Would also imagine there being a few second cool down and warmup between going in and out of the mode, so people just can't flip back and forth on a whim. I mean, you can't do that now as it is since you need to close and open the program, so why allow that possibly now?

I love this idea. I certainly feel that I wouldnt care if someone attacked me right then as I lay chatting.

The only problem I see is that if someone does attack, you might be disconnected from the chatting and whatever you are doing because you would be redirected to the live attack.

So what I suggest is that when someone does attack, the screen that normally would should your village turns dark with a message "Chief! someone is attacking your base! Click here to see live replay" with a button do you can choose to not see it or tell your Clanmates before you go see.
Logic is cold ............... Embrace it.

That's pretty much how it is in Clan Wars when looking at a war base when it gets attacked. It shows a red "Village Being Attacked" (or something like that), centered, and on the top edge of the screen, but doesn't kick you out or anything. If I recall right for war, you have to leave the current view, which takes you back to the war map, and then click "View Live" while the first minute of battle is going on.

For this "Idle Mode" idea, it would likely have a "View Live" button in a handy spot.

Most of these features, the 'outside viewing' you get when visiting, while able to chat, and live view while being attacked, and the attack notice in-game are all already made functions. Just have to modify things to where you 'visit' yourself, have a button to for going into, and then out of, Idle mode, and a few outside checks, like no way to donate(?) or change map layout in the active slot of the Layout Editor.

Funny, we had another thread here recently with a guy that wanted to be able to attack guys online against their will. He go shot down by pretty much everyone even after beating the horse overly hard. So it is ironic to suddenly have a thread here from a guy asking for it. That other thread showed that very few would want to be attacked while online but if it was via an on/off so that it only happened if you said you wanted it to I suppose that doesn't affect most of us.

But here is the bottom line....There is a technical challenge with having a base doing 2 things at once that would have to be overcome and it is hard enough (much dev time to implement and expense to support) to be the deal breaker right there.
