Considering you snapped a shot of the removal of that first gem box makes me suspicious, it is very easy to alter the time on your device and take a screenie of two separate gem boxes..attention seeking perhaps?

Its not suspicious I have gotten 2 on the same day & also 2 in the same week. Its also been times I went weeks without seeing one. They pop up completely randomly it seems no pattern to it.

This is normal. You get the 1st gem box on the last day of the week it spawns.
You get the 2nd gem box on the first day of the following week it spawns.
Hence, take note, your next gem box will be at least 7-14 days in coming future.
