Why do people trap TH's?

Title says it all. I can see some people are just trolling or maybe hoping to win a defense that way, but just exposing the TH like farming bases but trapping it makes no sense to me. If you want a shield, just take it and don't risk the attacker goung full force at your base. Not to mention the rearm cost...

Is the 100k+ rearm cost (Multiplied by the people who are smart enough to trigger them with single troops first) and lack if real use with teslas really worth a chance of a few trophies?

Whenever I saw a trapped town hall, I would win. Just because you had some telephone poles and a spring trap isn't going to stop me from getting the win. I would normally destroy all the traps and the town hall so they had a high rearm cost, lure their cc and kill it, and zap their DE. Serves those trolls right

I trap my TH is people get to greedy. I don't mind it people snipe my town hall and then proceed to do a proper raid. However, if someone takes my TH and then decides to zap some of my storages (any of them), I get angry.

If someone zaps me I'll revenge and trap my TH.

I sometimes enjoy watching 3 teslas vs archer gangs
Although the loser often is 3 teslas but it's fun to watch

I did it when I was transitioning from TH6 to TH7. I built my new TH7 defenses around my TH. I think sometimes snipers get confident and if they can snipe your TH, they may go for your loot too. At least that was my rational. Ultimately it saved me some trophies because I didn't want to drop off of Gold III.

if a low THlvl sniper, snipes a trapped TH

that's bonus trophies for the defender, other than that

I did it before, jumped from silver 1 to gold 2, then I was atkd by a TH9 lel

it's also kinda fun to watch people wasting so much resources to snipe a TH

my clan has seen many replays of me smashing these people. Typically I will try to get as much loot as possible, kill the heroes and finish at 39%, if they trap their th they dont want a shield
Someone zapping DE is better than these people

Now if its a trolling base with TH behind one wall and looks easy but is a teaser, then thats a viable option, but if you th is out, then you want a shield, trapping it means you want to be smashed

Main reason is to laugh at low levels trying to snipe it and panicking as they watch their green archers fall and wipe the tears from their eyes as they lose the trophies they had made over the last hour clicking next hoping for a town hall out in the open.
