Daddy, that is not the point being made unless I misunderstand - only the OP can confirm.
I thought that what Jen was saying is thet given current game mechanics, going to TH10 and not gemming will result in very poor resource income (because TH8 is no longer attractive).
If you are a maxed TH9, then you have little choice - but if it looks poor, I will stay at TH9 and do L10 walls before I go to TH10 and half my loot income.
So, I don't think this thread is about "maxing TH10 being uber expensive or time consuming", it is about TH10 providing a fundamentally different gaming experience to that enjoyed by current TH9 players (probably TH9 farmers). There simply are not enough farmable TH9s out there to sustain the farming population at the rate we are accustomed to - in my opinion (based on who I farm).
Things that will alter this - some really useful DE troops that can be made quickly / cheaply...thoughts on this...nope. A mid range DE is more likely and that will not form part of most farming armies if we assume farming is about efficiency and speed.
OR - L7 troops...doubtful
OR - time reduction on the build times of the more powerful troops...probably a welcome thought for all active players with tonnes of Elixir to burn but not such a good idea for the people who rely on defence more than attack - ie play less often.
