If you just became TH9, and you haven't spent gems on troop upgrades, then I would farm in gold 3 or gold 2.
The trophy range would be around 1400-1700 trophies. Use archers and barbarians to attack frequently and so you won't spent too much elixer either. There are a lot of inactive bases in this trophy range!

havent been in silver 1 since my th7-th8 days though so i have no comment
G1 is nice.
I'm currently at silver 1, things are okay, I even found some inactive and rushed TH10 there, but it might be some luck only (450k each), but I got pretty much only 500k overall of it, which is pretty gd for me..
Raising my trophy count. Gonna try it.
